Accounting Intern

POSITION TITLE/DEPARTMENT: Accounting Intern 

CLASSIFICATION/GRADE: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Temporary (12 weeks),

SALARY RANGE: 24 hours per week, $16.50 per hour 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY 

As an established and respected organization, the DIA is an excellent place for interns to explore interests in museums and non-profits. Beyond learning about the art collections, interns are able to contribute to everything that helps the museum run smoothly. Interns will work under the guidance and supervision of a DIA professional on a specific project with established learning outcomes. 

 

The Accounting Intern will gain an understanding of finance and accounting work in a non-profit museum environment. Projects will involve working on Audit Preparation, drafting of Policy and Procedures, fund accounting, 

Projects and Tasks Include:

  • Assisting Accounting Staff in the preparation of draft policies and procedures for review
  • Assisting department staff with audit preparation 
  • Assisting department staff with accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections management and investment processes 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Successful candidates must be studying at an undergraduate junior level or above in one of the following fields of study at an accredited university: accounting, finance, general business. 

Candidates must possess a basic knowledge of fund accounting, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal control structures, business communication and financial analysis.

Proficiency in latest version of Office 365, including SharePoint, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel is required.

This internship is blended and will include on site and virtual work.
